Today’s review is about the famous and most celebrated AHA 30% & BHA 2% peeling solution from The Ordinary, which is an amazing Canadian skin care brand.
I have already used this brand, before and continue to use many great products, reviews of which I will be posting soon.
The peeling solution, as the name suggests, is an exfoliating mask which targets acne-prone, dull and blemished skin. However, girls with normal skin & dry skin can also try it out but make sure to apply a lot of moisturiser after its use.
What is AHA & BHA ?
AHA is called Alpha Hydroxy acid. It is basically present in the form of Glycolic, Lactic and Citric Acid and exfoliates the upper layer of the skin.
BHA is called Beta Hydroxy acid and is present in the form of Salicylic or Acid. BHA penetrates deep inside the skin and suck out the impurities from within.
Glycolic Acid : Present in Sugar Cane
Lactic Acid : Present in Milk
Citric Acid : Present in Lemon
Salicylic Acid : Acne based products
What does a peeling solution do?
AHA 30% & BHA 2% peeling solution from The Ordinary is a mild chemical peel. It is suitable for use at home by following its instructions. Because chemicals can react to people differently, its better to do a patch test before.
The peeling solution would peel your outer layer of the skin due to the presence of AHA and that makes you more prone to sun burn so its necessary that you wear sun block and cover your skin properly afterwards.
Chemical peel/peeling solution should never be used on open pores/ broken/irritated/pimple prone skin. First, as it can cause extreme itchiness & burn your skin. Secondly, it can irritate the existing acne and through open wounds/pores can get into the blood stream.
Chemical peels should be used once a week and not to be used excessively. Also, it works slowly and gradually on the skin, so don’t expect any miracle on the skin. Give it at least a month, to work its way.
Consistency:
AHA 30% & BHA 2% peeling solution has a medium consistency thinner than a gel. And you can apply it easily through the dropper bottle available.
Is this AHA -BHA peeling solution Affordable?
In 2012, Truaxe founded DECIEM ( The abnormal company) on the principles of democratising skin care. So, keeping products affordable for the consumer.
The prices are fairly affordable. Especially, if you compare it with other international brands that offer chemical peels and quality skin care. For international consumers, import taxes from their respective countries also play a part in the increase in prices, unfortunately. But overall, AHA 30% & BHA 2% Peeling Solution benefits outweigh the cost, definitely without causing a dent in the pocket.
You can get amazing discounts these days from Bagallery. It is also available on other platforms like, adour.pk, Pandamart, highstreet.pk and other online platforms.
Is peeling solution good for skin?
Skin Bleach versus Chemical Peels
Skin bleaching to attain lighter skin tone is something Indian/Pakistani/Bengali/African/ Sri lankan girls are familiar with. You must be wondering why I have mentioned it here?
Because girls go to clinics for chemical peels with the impression to lighten their skin tone. They expect the same from chemical peels like AHA 30% & BHA 2% peeling solution. It is important to remember that chemical peels will never lighten your skin. It will only exfoliate the outer layer to get rid of discolouration, acne marks and dead skin.
Colonialism and worship of white skin
Local people were traumatised over decades into being self-conscious about skin color. Because of colonization by white people, who had the power. Local people from colonized countries associate power, wealth, civilisation with white people .
Although furor over racism has highlighted the issue. Despite that many people are in self-denial as they continue to use skin polish, which is another name for skin bleach. It is sad that people brain washed by colonial scum don’t realize that it is the quality of the skin that matters than superficially light skin.
So, next time, if any victim of colonial oppression, be it your aunt, uncle, mom, sister, brother, friend, salon, beautician, advise you to bleach. Just say NO !
My Experience
I have tried chemical peels in the past. These exorbitant peels used to work for a brief time but afterwards skin turned back to how it was. So, the pain was not worth it.
Almost all of the dermatologist gave chemical peels to me. Those burnt the upper layer of my skin after a month of ordeal and believe me it was not a pleasant sight. The pain made me hate all the chemical peels due to their superficiality.
When I saw the reviews for ordinary, I hesitated for a long time. So, that I could hear all the bad and good experiences of people before buying the product for myself.
The product is excellent for acne marks, dull skin and two tones of skin. And, being a victim of acne it sounded like a match made in heaven to me.
I followed the precautions really seriously and didn’t apply it on broken skin or for more than 10 minutes. Also, I applied, sunscreen thoroughly while going out. After the application I could see that the product cleared my skin. All the white heads buried inside, popped out, which I cleaned afterwards with a cleanser.
The texture of my skin improved a bit. However, for acne marks, I have yet to use the product for a longer period. But it lightened up a bit
The good thing about this peeling solution is that it doesn’t peel your skin in an extreme way and you can easily go out in public under this treatment. Also it is very pocket friendly being a Canadian product and a lot of people can use it. Secondly, it is extremely awesome for blemished skin because it addresses all the problems in one bottle. And reduces the trips to the salon.
In my opinion, it is a worth while investment on your skin and every girl should have it in her skin care kit, especially those who have oily/acne prone.
