MY EXPERIENCE

A few months ago, I started using Luscious Cosmetics, a Pakistani cosmetic brand accidentally as previously I was too scared to use any local brand due to the serious amount of mishaps that happened with me after using local makeup brands. In most of the cases the quality was too poor to use the brand again. But, I was pleasantly surprised by the good quality products from Luscious Cosmetics that I received in the Mystery Box.

Inspired by the Universe, The name of the precious metals loose eyeshadow pigments are as follows ; Moonstone, Violet Venus, Supernova and Star dust.  The eye pigment, Violet Venus has cobalt blue, violet and copper in it which explains the mystery behind its name Violet Venus as violet is another name for purple while the planet Venus has deep orange/copper surface.

Blue is one of my favourite colours and since I have realised that blue looks uber chic on brown skin tone, I have been a huge fan, a sucker for everything cobalt, sapphire, ink blue, royal blue on the eyelid, be it eye shades, eye liner, kohl or mascara.

How I applied the eyeshadow pigment

For a party, I applied the cobalt blue from Violet Venus and found it to be really pigmented as the pigment is made of mica it has sparkling glitters which is perfect for glitter eye makeup especially if applied with a wet brush.  As I had to do an evening makeup, I applied it in multiple swipes, layer after layer to give it a dramatic effect and throughout the party, my eye makeup was the highlight.

It lasted very well too, for 5-6 hours without smudging even though I didn’t apply any primer or glitter glue to hold it. But, I think that you won’t even need a glitter glue because the texture is pretty refined, unlike other eye glitters that fall off easily.

tested for human safety & Cruelty free

The best thing about Luscious cosmetics, eye pigments is that these are tested for human safety, are vegan, and cruelty free. Some of the eye glitters that I have used in the past consists of plastic based components  that can cause microscopic tears in the skin due to their hexagonal shape cuts. However, due to the inclusion of MICA, precious metals loose eyeshadow pigments from Luscious cosmetics are safe.

Cost comparison with a high end imported brand

I found  the cobalt  colour from Violet Venus to be of premium quality due to its intense pigmentation and long lasting appeal. The amazing thing is that the premium quality and the vegan product comes at an affordable price of PKR 795  with enough quantity that would last a long time. If you compare this product with the similar product of any high end brand that also includes MICA, it costs 4 times higher than the eye pigments from Luscious cosmetics. So, in my opinion, it is pretty cost efficient.

Why it is important to support local Pakistani brands

It is very good to see a  local brand (Luscious Cosmetics)  doing well by adhering to the safety standards and producing quality products which makes consumers want to spend their money on their products. Hence, it will ultimately benefit our nation as lesser imported goods means less burden on the national exchequer and, less dollars spent on international payments which as a result would eventually help with our balance of payment deficit.
