The Gothic witch makeup tutorial is both sexy and sultry, with a mysterious, captivating allure that’s simply irresistible. I have been wanting to try this look for ages. This Halloween finally gave me the perfect opportunity. I went all in and embraced my inner dark enchantress!
So, I have created this beginner-friendly goth makeup tutorial. It will help you achieve a mesmerizing look that’s dramatic, bold, and unforgettable. With easy-to-follow steps and a few magical products, you’ll be ready to cast your spell.
Let’s dive into this tutorial with all the tips, tricks, and products that will bring your Gothic witch vision to life.
Flawless Base for Gothic witch makeup tutorial
To start any makeup look, a flawless base is essential. We want smooth, even skin to bring out the intensity of this Gothic style.
I used the Maybelline Pore Eraser which is an affordable primer that works wonders. Not only does it help make your makeup stay on longer, but it’s also fantastic for acne-prone, oily skin. This primer keeps the shine under control, minimizes pores, and gives a smooth, matte base—ideal for achieving that flawless gothic look.
For my foundation, I went with the Maxfactor Miracle Pure Foundation which is a light, BB cream-like foundation. It feels great on oily, acne-prone skin and gives a soft, natural coverage that’s buildable. Especially, for creating a flawless base without looking cakey. Just the right amount of coverage for that smooth, almost ethereal base we’re aiming for with this Gothic look.
Concealer – Sexy Halloween makeup
Instead of a traditional concealer, I used the Inglot HD Foundation in Shade 84. This shade is just one tone darker than my natural skin tone, making it perfect for concealing imperfections. Also it blends beautifully and provides long-lasting coverage, helping you achieve that flawless, witchy look.
It’s honestly one of my go-to concealer cum foundation. But if you prefer a traditional concealer, LA Girl Pro Concealer is another great option that blends smoothly and provides excellent coverage.
Set it in Place – Romantic goth makeup tutorial
For a makeup that lasts all day (and night), set everything with Laura Mercier Setting Powder. This powder is known for its lightweight feel and ability to blur imperfections, so it’s a must-have for creating a flawless, long-lasting look
Crafting the Dark Eyes – Gothic Witch Makeup tutorial
The eyes are the highlight of this Gothic Witch Makeup tutorial. We’re going for a smoky, sultry vibe that’s equal parts dark and mesmerizing.
Start with MAC Purple Dark Room Eyeshadow. This rich purple shade is ideal for adding depth and dimension to your eyes. Blend it into your crease and outer corners, building up the color until you reach your desired intensity.
Add Intensity with Black: To make your eyes look even more dramatic, use MAC Carbon Black Eyeshadow. Apply it to the lash line and blend it slightly inward for a sultry, smoky effect. This step brings that edgy, goth vibe to life.
For a magical touch, apply a bit of silver grey shimmer on the lids and the inner corner. The Ingrid Silver Grey Shimmer Eyeshadow (or try Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips) adds just the right amount of sparkle, giving your eyes that enchanting, mystical allure.
Use Max Factor Eyeliner in 020 Black to line your upper lash line. Keep it smudged for a softer, smokier look.
Finish with Mascara
Complete the eye look with Maybelline Colossal Mascara to make your lashes bold. Apply a couple of coats, focusing on the outer lashes to give a more dramatic, wide-eyed look.
Sculpting the Face with a Witchy Glow – sultry makeup tutorial
To bring out those cheekbones and add some magical glow, we’ll use highlighter and blush for just the right amount of definition.
I used the MAC Highlighter in Rose Gold to add a soft, mystical sheen to my face. Apply a little on the high points of cheeks. Add some down the bridge of nose. A touch on cupid’s bow to create a glowing, bewitching look.
Add Some Contour : I used Mac Dark room contour to add more definition to the Gothic look.
Lips That Cast a Spell – romantic goth makeup tutorial
The final step in our Gothic Witch Makeup tutorial is, of course, the lips. Dark, dramatic lips are a must for this look!
The Inglot HD Lip Tint 27 is a great choice for achieving that classic goth lip. This rich maroon shade is both sultry and bold, adding a vampy touch to your overall look. Alternatively, if you can also use a slightly darker option, like Pat McGrath’s Guinevere Lipstick
Application Tip: For a precise look, use a lip brush to line your lips with the tint. After lining, fill in the color. This technique helps you get a neat, defined edge—perfect for that witchy elegance!
Finishing Touches for Sexy witch makeup – Gothic Witch Look
To complete this Gothic witch transformation, add a few finishing touches that’ll take your look to the next level:
Witch hairstyles for Halloween
I paired this makeup with teased half ponytail for a dramatic effect. I also added some dark and unconventional accessories to my hair like head jewellery and some long tassel earrings to bring even more mystery to the look.
Custom makeup tutorial dress to impress
I went for a deep black outfit. You can definitely try a deep purple outfit for the goth witch look. This will pull everything together.
