Today’s review is about the Lasting Finish Matte Foundation by Rimmel London which is a British cosmetics brand, now owned by Coty, Inc.
History of Rimmel :
House of Rimmel was founded by a French British perfumer and businessman, Hyacinthe Mars Rimmel and his 14 year old son Eugène Rimmel in 1834. It started of as a perfumery in London and within 10 years Eugène took the brand to new heights through his cosmetic genius and marketing skills.
Eugène was the first to develop a non-toxic commercial mascara, when it was made with mercury back in the 18th century. To this day, the word for mascara in several languages is “Rimmel.”

What is mousse foundation?
Mousse foundation is a kind of “Whipped Foundation” It is very light and feathery due to the air based formula used in its composition. Mousse provides a matte finish and due to its oil absorbing properties, it is an excellent choice people with Oily Skin tones.
MY EXPERIENCE
After I heard a lot of positive reviews, I got Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish Matte Foundation, which is said to be one of the best foundations for oily/ acne prone skin tones.
I use the shade 404 – Sun Biege which was recommended by the beauty advisor of the Rimmel – London in the store. This foundation is a light weight mousse. Overall, I’m a big fan of mousse foundations because these are feather light, doesn’t crease on the oily skin tone and provides decent coverage. Most importantly mousse foundations doesn’t give pimples on an acne prone skin.
Dream Matter mousse from Maybelline is also very good for everyday makeup as well due to blend-able coverage and easy to use .
Price :
It is a very affordable product and priced for Rs 1,499 in Pakistan. In the USA it is around $9-$10
Texture :
It is a light foundation with an airy mousse texture, very soft and smooth like SOLID buttery coconut oil. Because, this is a LIGHWEIGHT MOUSSEE and not a thin foundation.
The thick consistency and soft texture make the foundation very easy to apply and long lasting. It lasted for 5 good hours in winter on my face although the company say the lasting can go unto 12 hours but I have to try it yet.
Coverage:
Rimmel – London claims that the foundation provides full coverage. Yet I didn’t find the acne marks on my skin complete hidden after I used it without concealer. So in short, it is a medium coverage everyday foundation and not something that you can wear alone.
My skin became dry textured in December 2019, the dry patches were highlighted after the use of this foundation. I would recommend using primer before the foundation, If you are going through the same better exfoliate your skin and use a primer /lotion before applying it.
