WHY USE SUNSCREEN ?

Composition of Sunlight:

The sunlight consists of 55% infrared rays, 43% of visible light and just 3%- 4% is the ultra violet rays. The UV rays that reaches earth consists of UV (A) and UV (B).

What are UV (A) and UV ( B) rays?

UV (A) accounts for 95% of the UV rays reaching earth. It reaches deep layers of the skin and is responsible for causing ageing, wrinkling and immediate tanning. The UVA due to their deep penetration causes permanent damage to the skin, and is a main cause of skin cancers

Types of sunblock:

There are two types of sunblock namely physical sunblock and chemical sunblock are as under;

Physical Sunblock:

The sunblock that contains Titanium dioxide or Zinc oxide are knows as Physical sun blocks. These sunblocks scatter the sun rays before it penetrate the skin.  They have a whitish appearance and instead of being absorbed in the skin, they sit on the epidermis.

Chemical Sunblocks:

The chemical sunblocks contain carbon based compounds such as oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and octinoxate. Upon contact with  skin wearing chemical sunblock, the UV rays changes into heat which is then released.

Protection by Sunblocks

The use of sunscreen protects the skin from ;

  • skin tanning,
  • sun burn,
  • skin discolouration,
  • pigmentation, pre-mature ageing,
  • wrinkles,
  • acne
  • and most importantly protect the skin from genetic damage of cells that causes skin cancers.

Aicha’s experience of Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen from MINISO

You won’t believe it, if I tell you that in teenage, I seldom applied a sunblock while going out in the sun. It was not that I didn’t know the importance of it. But, I minimised the dangers associated with no sun block application. Further, whenever I tried to use a sunblock, it used to give me pimples and I would back out from applying it again.

It was because of my reckless behaviour of not using any sunblock. I triggered acne, got discolouration and uneven skin tone on my face. Luckily, being a brown girl, the damage was not worse as it could have been.

Now, when I know how important sunscreen is and how religiously everyone should use it. I seriously wish to go back in time and tell my younger self to pay some heed.

Back then, I didn’t know any difference between chemical or physical sun block or what to use on my skin. Hence, I made a lot of mistakes and got extremely pissed when things didn’t work my way.  Although, I tried using a sunblock that has been recommended by the dermatologist, it didn’t do much to my skin.

So, Two years back, I saw this baby Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen in MINISO, and I randomly picked it up despite knowing nothing about it. To my surprise, it was a game changer for me.

My biggest concern in summer is acne due to the extreme heat.  And, I had been dreading it as my skin Is very sensitive. But, thank god, Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen didn’t give me a single pimple,

Moreover, The sunscreen contains Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit extract, a biological name for sea Buckthorn which helps to make the skin look healthy as it contains fatty acids.

Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen contains Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract:

On the tube of Ocean Frost Sun screen there is no mention of Hippophae Rhamnoides. But, Miniso India has mentioned it on its website.

The Hippophae Rhamnoides or sea buckthorn is native to colder regions of Europe and Asia, namely Finland, Germany, Poland, Sweden, UK in Europe and China, Nepal, Bhutan, India and Pakistan in Asia .

It is a good source of vitamin C and E and provides comfort to the skin that would break down. Being rich in vitamin C, E and fatty acids like omega 3 and 6. It provides protection against wrinkles, acne pigmentation, and uneven skin because sea buckthorn fights against free radical damage.

So, next time you go to any of those places where it is found in abundance. Don’t forget to get a bag full of sea buckthorn for yourself.

Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen from MINISO Discontinued in Pakistan

Now, let’s come to the sad part. Unfortunately, I had to switch to another sunblock as Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen is not available in Pakistan, anymore. I felt very sad when i couldn’t find it. I don’t know if they have shopped shipping it or have just discontinued the product altogether. As, this was one of the sunblocks that actually suited my skin, and not getting has really made me extremely disappointed!

Aicha’s recommendation about Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen from MINISO:

Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen is suitable for all skin types. My mother has dry skin and this multi purpose sun block suited her skin as well. But, if you have sensitive, oily skin tone then Ocean Frost Moisture Sunscreen is a gold product for you.
