PURE SUGAR SCRUB – “KIWI” from L’Oreal Paris

Today’s review is about the PURE SUGAR SCRUB – “KIWI” from  L’Oreal Paris, which is a French giant in personal care.

The Pure Sugar Scrub or the Exfoliant Sucre Pur is available for Dry, Oily and Dull skin tones. Namely the Kiwi flavour is for the oily skin tone. The scrub is formulated with three naturally derived Brown, Blonde and White sugars along with kiwi, peppermint and lemongrass oils.

Claims about PURE SUGAR SCRUB – “KIWI” by L’Oreal Paris

My Experience

As soon as the Pure Sugar Scrubs from Loreal were out in the market, there was a lot of hype about the product. As a consequence of reading hearing/reading a lot of positive reviews on Loreal Skincare Exfoliants, I tried the PURE SUGAR SCRUB – “KIWI” which Loreal recommends for Oily Skin.

Apple green colour of the mask. Seen here are the scattered kiwi seeds in the mask.

The scrub has a gel like consistency in beautiful, apple green colour which is also the colour of Kiwi fruit. As the exfoliant is Kiwi flavoured and composed of kiwi extract, there are kiwi seeds present in the exfoliant as well. The natural sugars present in the exfoliant can be felt during scrubbing on face ( with damp fingers).

claims by Loreal about pure sugar scrub

Loreal claim that the dead skin is cleared with the regular use of the exfoliant. I was expecting a squeaky clean skin due to the presence  of three sugars and kiwi particles but didn’t not see any difference. The presence of the Kiwi seeds has no use other than  looking good in the green concoction. I thought that the Kiwi Seeds would have some sort of a use in the exfoliation process but Alas! It was ineffective

Whenever I buy an exfoliant or a scrub. I look up to it as a magic concoction that would take care of the white heads and dirt on my skin. Because, I have an oily skin  and above it, an acne prone skin one that turns the dirt and excess sebum to produce white heads on the T zone which if left untreated can cause pimples.

However, one positive thing that I found in this exfoliant, is that it doesn’t make the skin dry or patchy.

But, overall, I don’t recommend it at all.  PURE SUGAR SCRUB – “KIWI” does not match up to the tall claims made by Loreal. The main purpose of the exfoliant that is to take dead skin away is absent from the product. Precise it doesn’t make the skin glowing or squeaky clean.

Very disappointed!

Price:

It is about $12.99 USD and in Pakistan it is for PKR  2,000 (exchange rate 154.91)

Packaging:

Square glass bottle. Not travel friendly.

Texture:

The texture is gel based with Kiwi seeds.

Hydrating:

It feels sugary and thick (like most sugar based exfoliants) but after application, the skin feels smooth and not dry

Aicha’s Verdict

0/10

Pros:

  • The skin feels very smooth after the application
  • Easy to apply

Cons:

  • Doesn’t exfoliate well
  • Doesn’t give glowing skin
  • Dont take out the dead skin
  • Sugary sticky consistency which is very irritating in summers
  • On oily, problematic skin it can cause redness due to the presence of sugars.
  • No value for money.
