What is Bourjois Cosmetics ?

Bourjois Cosmetics has a very captivating history.  Back in 1863 in the heart of Paris, cosmetologist Joseph-Albert Ponsin birthed Bourjois as a theatrical makeup haven.

What sets them apart? Well, Bourjois wasn’t just a trendsetter; they pioneered the first-ever dry rouge, a game-changer over the conventional grease-laden face paint. Fast forward to 1917, enter Pierre Wertheimer, co-founder of Chanel, who, along with his brother Paul, took the helm at Bourjois.

These French moguls steered the Bourjois ship for nearly a century, witnessing its ascent to the top as the largest cosmetic and fragrance giant in France by 1920. But hey, they weren’t just confined to Europe – Bourjois spread its wings internationally, with corporate holdings even in America.

Until in 2015, the American group Coty snagged Bourjois from the Wertheimer brothers for a cool $239 million. Wondering why did they had to sell Bourjois ? Well, it turns out, poor sales, especially in Europe and America, were giving them a run for their money, courtesy of fierce competition from other makeup brands.

After COTY purchased it from the Wertheimer brothers, it  reinventing Bourjois and the brand staged a comeback, especially in the thriving markets of Asia. It’s proof that in the beauty world, every brand has its ebbs and flows, and Bourjois is no exception.

Features of Bourjois Foundcealer

Alright, now that we’ve got the lowdown on Bourjois, Let’s zoom in on the packaging of Bourjois Foundcealer – Always Fab 24H 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer Stick with Blender.

Packaging

It’s a sleek black plastic stick with a gold lid, and what I adore is that cute blender at the back. It’s not just practical; it adds charm and makes it travel-friendly. Think about it – lightweight, handy blender, no need to carry heavy glass foundations. Why risk it when you can have it all without the weight?

Fragrance

The moment you give it a sniff, those perfume notes in its formula hit you hard. I’m a sucker for fragrances in makeup; they give me a high. And it’s quite a surprise that, even though it’s non-comedogenic, it smells heavenly and is perfumed.

Texture

Now, speaking of texture, you can see how light and non-greasy it is, and the good coverage it provides. I like that it is waterproof and transfer-proof, giving it the appearance of a second skin—a hallmark of high-quality foundations. And that’s because it’s a Foundcealer.

What is a foundcealer?

It’s a multitasking foundation and concealer hybrid that conceals and covers at the same time, providing a full-coverage, flawless finish.

Here’s my go-to method: Dab it on my face in dots, then blend. I prefer a dry beauty blender, but any blender, even the one at its back, works. Seal the deal with setting powder on top – flawless!

FACE OFF: Bourjois Foundcealer vs Kryolan TV Paint Stick

Unlike Kryolan, which can be a bit on the hard side and might trigger pimples for those with acne-prone skin when used daily, Bourjois Always Fabulous 24 Hour 2-in-1 Foundation steps in as the superhero with no such issues. This beauty not only provides a natural finish but also gets along with acne-prone skin.

One fantastic thing about Bourjois Foundcealer is its versatility – it’s your ultimate companion for achieving that light-to-medium coverage, pulling double duty as both a foundation and concealer.

Speaking from personal experience, applying Kryolan was a struggle for me as a beginner, but with Bourjois Foundcealer, no such issues came my way.

The Kryolan TV Paint Stick tends to give a cakey coverage, unlike Bourjois Foundcealer, which leaves you with a natural, dewy finish. Plus, it’s budget-friendly compared to Kryolan, making it a winner in the price department.

While some argue that Kryolan TV Paint Stick shines on cameras due to its thick coverage, it might be a thing of the past. Today’s advanced cameras call for a more modern approach.

In the end, it’s all about your preference. If you’re into a heavy, stage-like makeup, Kryolan TV Paint Stick might be your pick. However, if you lean towards a natural finish that’s light yet offers full coverage, Bourjois Foundcealer is your go-to. Just a heads up – if you have acne-prone skin, Kryolan TV Paint Stick might not play nice and could gift you with some unwelcome pimples. Choose wisely! 💄✨

Price

When it comes to affordability, this foundation is truly budget-friendly, particularly when compared to other high-end brands. I think that Bourjois has rebranded itself for Asian markets.

Swatch on hand of Bourjois Foundcealer

Is it matte or dewy ?

It’s a semi-matte foundation, thanks to the presence of Jojoba Oil, providing a natural finish. For those with oily skin, you can easily transform it into a dewy or matte foundation by adjusting the amount of powders or highlighters you use. The key, once again, is to use a moderate amount of product, applying it in dots and blending gently. Opt for using your hand for a natural coverage or a beauty blender for a thicker finish.

I have the 420 Honey Beige shade, and it perfectly matches my skin color, giving a natural look. However, I’m planning to acquire the darker and lighter shades as well. So, Bourjois Please sponsor because I genuinely love your products!

Sebum Control: Ideal for Acne-Prone Skin

While Bourjois claims its foundation suits all skin types, I find it ideal for normal and oily skin. It excels at controlling sweat and sebum, making it a perfect match for those with acne-prone, oily skin, especially in hot, humid areas.

Aicha’s Recommendation : Is Bourjois Always Fabulous 24 Hour 2-in-1 Foundation worth it

In my view, it’s worth every penny, especially for acne-prone and oily skin in hot regions. The affordability factor adds to its appeal. I love its lightweight yet full-coverage formula, perfect for daily wear and special occasions. I’m baffled why Bourjois hasn’t marketed it properly because, in my opinion, it’s undoubtedly superior to Kryolan. And if you’re into fragrances in makeup, it’s a must-have.

Overall, give it a shot, especially for acne-prone skin, offering a foundation that stands strong in the heat without causing breakouts
