Welcome to my latest blog installment, In today’s blog post, I will review about Sapphire Cosmetics, an interesting, recently-emerged brand that has caught my attention.
In this comprehensive review, we will shine spotlight on Sapphire Cosmetics. Specifically, my focus will be on the Sapphire Cosmetics Foundation, as I explore its merits and drawbacks for you.
Additionally, I will also uncover that which high profile foundation dupe of it is and much more?
So, Let the beauty journey begin!
What is Sapphire Cosmetics ?
Sapphire Cosmetics is a subsidiary of Sapphire Retail, owned by the Sapphire Group in Pakistan. The group, founded in 1969, is primarily engaged in the sale and manufacturing of yarn and fabrics. Surprisingly, their retail sector is relatively new, having been initiated in 2014, and Sapphire Cosmetics, the latest addition to their portfolio, was introduced in 2020.
Given the nascent state of the beauty industry in Pakistan, Sapphire Cosmetics opts to manufacture its products in Turkey. This choice is attributed to Turkey’s ability to provide products of excellent quality within an affordable price range, especially when compared to other European countries.
Packaging
Taking a closer look at Sapphire Cosmetics’ packaging, you’ll find it housed in a standard 30 ml bottle with a vibe that kinda echoes MAC — simple and classy, rocking an all-black look with “Sapphire” written in it with gold (MAC keeps it in white).
Now, here’s the lowdown: it’s got a pump and cap situation, but I can’t lock the pump, which is a bit of a downer compared to Inglot or MAC.
When it comes to the bottle’s weight—it’s no lightweight. Holding it in your hands, you can feel the heft, and while it’s rocking some high-quality glass that probably does wonders for keeping the foundation on point, it’s not the best travel buddy especially with the missing pump lock if you’re always on the go.
Texture
Speaking of texture, the Sapphire Cosmetics Foundation has a thin consistency, a hallmark of high-quality foundations.
This characteristic is important as it allows for layering, giving you the flexibility to build it up to your preference.
Because of the light consistency the foundation feels remarkably light on the skin, steering clear of any cakey appearance.
How to apply Sapphire Cosmetics Foundation?
I prefer using my fingers for blending the foundation, although you can also opt for a beauty blender or brush—both are recommended in the directions.

As a general rule, ensure your face is clean, and start with smaller batches. I avoid applying multiple layers because I’m not a fan of the cakey look, and truth be told, I don’t need it with Sapphire Cosmetic Foundation as simple dabbing works wonders in covering up the blemishes!
And, that is a fantastic thing about this foundation.
Price
When it comes to affordability, this foundation is truly budget-friendly, particularly when compared to other high-end brands and even Turkish brands like Flormar or Golden Rose. It outshines both these brands by a significant margin.
Sapphire Cosmetics Review : SPF in Foundation
Sapphire Cosmetics foundation contains SPF 15, so if you happen to forget to apply sunscreen, you can still be somewhat protected in the sunlight.

Is it matte or dewy ?
It’s a matte foundation, so you have to be really careful when applying it and be quick; otherwise, it might not blend well. I have the Hazel Nut shade, and it’s an exact match for my skin color and looks just like skin.

Dupe of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
One great thing about theSapphire Cosmetics Foundation is that it serves as a dupe for the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. I realized this when I started using it. Even though Giorgio Armani is dewy and Sapphire is matte, you can effortlessly transform any matte foundation, especially if you have oily skin, into a dewy finish with the use of illuminators and cream highlighters.

Sebum Control: Ideal for Acne-Prone Skin
While Sapphire claims its foundation is suitable for all skin types, I find it particularly well-suited for normal and oily skin. This foundation excels in controlling sweat and sebum, making it a perfect match for individuals with acne-prone and oily skin, especially those residing in humid and hot areas
Ingredients of Sapphire Cosmetics Foundation
If you notice the Sapphire Cosmetics Foundation ingredients then this foundation include:
- Silicones (Cyclopentasiloxane,Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane) : These help to create a smooth and silky texture and there presence in the foundation is the reason that it glides onto the skin to provide a flawless finish. Silicons also help to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, making the skin look smooth and youthful.
- This foundation also contains Isododecane: This is a hydrocarbon ingredient often used as a solvent. It evaporates quickly and can contribute to a lightweight feel in cosmetics.
The controversial ingredients in it is the inclusion of
- Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate: This is a common sunscreen agent and is considered a endocrine disruptor. Although The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel, which assesses the safety of cosmetic ingredients, has determined that it is safe for use in cosmetics. Some people may be sensitive to chemical sunscreens, but it’s generally considered safe for use and Talc.
Although they may be used in safe quantities and it is still The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel, which assesses the safety of cosmetic ingredients, has determined that it is safe for use in cosmetics.
Another ingredient in it is the inclusion of Talc which is the topic of debate in the past due to its potential contamination with asbestos. However, cosmetic-grade talc is now required to be asbestos-free in many countries.
But I would really prefer if Sapphire would redo its formulation and make it totally controversial ingredient free.
Aicha’s Recommendation : Is Sapphire Cosmetics Foundation worth it
In my opinion, Sapphire Cosmetics Foundation is worth every penny, especially considering its formula is excellent for acne-prone and oily skin, making it a great choice for those living in hot regions. The affordability factor adds to its appeal.
What’s intriguing is that the presence of silicones in its ingredients qualifies it as an HD foundation, offering a lightweight and breathable feel. However, it’s surprising that Sapphire hasn’t highlighted this aspect adequately, given its relatively new presence in the beauty industry.
The inclusion of silicones is a fantastic quality, akin to Inglot, contributing to smoother skin.
As far as improvements are concerned, I’d love to see Sapphire launch mini products similar to MAC and other major brands, allowing people to try their products without committing to large bottles, a move that would also be travel-friendly.
While Sapphire Cosmetics could use improvement, especially in developing foundations for different skin types and conditions, one must consider its new entrant status in the industry.
Overall, it’s a great foundation and a must-buy for those who enjoy experimenting with new brands and want to explore options beyond the giants in the beauty industry.

This is especially important considering that some major players in the beauty industry, like in other areas, actively support the genocide in Palestine and cancel anyone speaking about it like Maha Dakhail or Huda.
Therefore, Sapphire Cosmetics can serve as a good alternative brand and may be your stepping stone for choosing ethical brands moving forward.
