I had to try Soskin Sunscreen 50+ because I’m always on the lookout to shield my skin from the hot and scorching sun rays. It is considered one the most raved sunscreen in skincare.
Soskin Paris is a French skincare brand that has been in the market for over 30 years. It is known for its innovative and effective skincare products that cater to different skin types and concerns.
In the past, I have shared reviews of sunscreens for oily and acne-prone skin, and Soskin Sunscreen is an extension of my sunscreen reviews. But the big question is: Is Soskin Sunscreen 50+ really worth the investment?
Before I share my personal experience and talk about the controversial ingredients in it, let’s answer some common questions about sunscreen.
Is soskin sunscreen tinted ?
Soskin Sunscreen 50+ is colourless and it is non-tinted.
Difference between sunscreen and tinted sunscreen?
Tinted sunscreen is the one that is lightly coloured like skin or like foundation. It is like a BB cream and you can easily skip foundation for everyday use if you want to.
Classic sunscreen is colorless and some leave a chalky white residue while others are transparent like Solaris Sunscreen.
Soskin sunscreen for oily skin or acne-prone skin – Good ?
Soskin Sunscreen 50+ is good for oily and acne-prone skin. The spray is extremely light and has a non greasy texture.
Sunblock for babies – Soskin sunscreen ?
Soskin has clearly written that Soskin Sunscreen 50+ is suitable for babies from 3 years old due to its gentle ingredients. It means that it is also a great choice for those with sensitive skin.
Soskin Sunscreen 50+ a physical sunscreen or chemical sunblock?
Soskin Sunscreen 50+ is indeed a chemical sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing the sun’s UV rays and converting them into heat, which is then released from the skin.
The active ingredients listed in Soskin Sunscreen 50+, such as Octocrylene, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, and Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, are chemical compounds commonly used in sunscreen formulations to provide protection against UVA and UVB rays.

Soskin Sunscreen 50+ is a broad-spectrum water-resistant sunscreen, and is great for those who enjoy outdoor activities.

Aicha’s Experience – Soskin sunscreen review ?
I bought Soskin Sunscreen 50+ because it uses high-quality ingredients and advanced technology in its products, even though I knew it was a chemical sunscreen. I spent my money on it just to write this blog for you guys.
I sometimes use chemical sunscreen when I know I’ll be spending a lot of time in the sun or at the beach. I don’t like getting a tan or having an uneven skin tone, so I prefer to protect my skin.
This sunscreen is made by a French company, which reminds me of delicious butter croissants as I write this. Even though I was aware of the risks, I was curious and decided to give it a try.
I was interested in Soskin Sunscreen 50+ because it claims to be suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. Luckily, this sunscreen didn’t cause any breakouts or irritations on my skin. As expected from a French company, it protected my skin from tanning. I’m grateful that this sunscreen worked well with my Indian skin.
Sun Protection Factor – Soskin sunscreen spf 50
This is great for people who spend a lot of time outside or have fair skin that gets easily damaged by the sun.
Remember, no sunscreen can protect you completely, so it’s important to wear protective clothes and stay in the shade during the sunniest times. American Academy of Dermatology, say that using sunscreen with SPF 30 or more every day is a good idea.
Keep in mind that SPF only measures protection from UVB rays, and it doesn’t tell us about protection from UVA rays, which can also hurt our skin. Thankfully, the Soskin Sunscreen SPF 50+ spray is said to protect us from both UVA and UVB rays, which is awesome!
Packaging of the product :
The Soskin Paris “Very High Protection SPF 50+” sun spray comes in a 150 ml white container with inscriptions in dark grey and yellow. The bottle has a spray cap that allows for easy application on the skin.
Texture & Consistency :
This sunscreen has a super light and thin texture. When I applied it, it felt very smooth like a milky mist.
Fragrance:
It is a fragrance free – non comedogenic product
Soskin sunscreen price
The Soskin Paris Sunscreen 50+ spray is priced at $20/150 mL, which is a good deal compared to other sunscreens in the market
Soskin paris 50+ Sunscreen side effect ?
When it comes to soskin paris 50+ Sunscreen, we have to ask ourselves, “Is it safe?” It’s a chemical sunblock with active ingredients like Octocrylene and Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid which are known Endocrine disruptors.
Endocrine disruptors are substances that can mess with your hormones when they get absorbed into your bloodstream through the skin. They can cause issues such as unwanted hair growth, thyroid troubles, weight gain, and more.
There are other ingredients like Triethanolamine and Phenoxyethanol which might cause skin irritation and allergic reactions in some individuals.
One alarming study also published by American Chemical Society that Octocrylene degrades into benzophenone which is a known carcinogen.
But once again, the research is ongoing, and the FDA and ECHA have not taken this product off the shelf, as the safety of these ingredients depends on their concentration in the product and how they’re used.
So fingers crossed until the regulatory agencies assess the safety of cosmetic ingredients based on available scientific data.
Aicha’s Verdict
6.5/10
Is SOSKIN SUN SPRAY VERY HIGH PROTECTION SPF50+ worth it ? – Aicha’s recommendation:
I know you’ve been waiting for this, and many readers have scrolled down to the verdict before reading the full article. 🙂
So, I’ll make it easier for you. Personally, I don’t think SOSKIN SUN SPRAY VERY HIGH PROTECTION SPF50+ is worth its price tag.
And you’ve guessed it correctly! With the presence of Octocrylene and the audacity of SOSKIN to recommend this product for babies, it’s even more concerning.

For oily and acne-prone skin, and for beach or outdoor days, it’s good to use this sunscreen if you haven’t found any alternatives to protect you against UV rays that cause premature aging, sunburn, and yes, TANNING for people with Indian descent 🙂
But overall, I have one word for SOSKIN Sunscreen 50+ = AVOID
PS:
SOSKIN Paris recently updated the ingredients in its sunscreen, but the bottle I have still contains Octocrylene.
