OILS OF LIFE | Is it awesome ? The Bodyshop intensely revitalising facial oil

There has been a huge hype for OILS OF LIFE INTENSELY REVITALISING FACIAL OIL -THE BODY SHOP in the real world and instagram world.  So, I decided to try my luck  to see if I would change miraculously into Cleopatra after a month of using Body Shop, Oils of Life – Intensely  Revitalising Facial Oil

OILS OF LIFE INTENSELY REVITALISING FACIAL OIL – THE BODY SHOP

My skin is very problematic and oily. A single product here and there, and then, comes the pimple to say Hi! To me. Living in a hot country makes it all the very worse due to constant sweating, if there is no AC for even 10 minutes.

I think that the design team of the Bodyshop should take into mind various climate zones when they make a certain product (sorry, if you do so already, but it is not helping).  By the way, my bottle is made in France and distributed worldwide by theBodyShop wake forest, USA

The oil is cold pressed to its purest form and includes the following major and few minor ingredients along with many more.

Major Ingredients in oils of life

  • Black Cumin Oil from Egypt – Known for its concentration in Antioxidants
  • Rose hip Oil from Chile – rich in Omega 3 and 6
  • Camellia Oil from China naturally rich in nutritive oleic acid

  • Lavender Oil
  • Rosemary Leaf Oil

How to apply

Body shop advises that the oil should be applied 1-2 drops gently on the skin, avoiding the eye area probably because it is very concentrated.

Claims about Oils of life facial oil by Bodyshop

Body shop claims its Intensely Revitalising Facial Oil would do the following;

  • Instantly the skin would feel smoother and radiant
  • The fine lines after 4 weeks would appear minimised

Before applying the Facial oil

My Experience

I tried the product on myself and my mother, who happen to have quite a few fine lines due to ageing. Her skin is pretty dry unlike my oily mess.

The facial oil has a very sharp, cumin seed like smell. Also, it tingled on the face for brief seconds after I applied every time. But the worst thing it did, was cause me pimples,  after two days of continuous use. However, I would admit that the skin does look bright, the next day you wake up (after applying it before going to bed)

Unfortunately, my skin became more bright due to pimples and using the facial oil for continuously 4 days.  Hence, for me, money is wasted.

For my mother, it did wonders, more so because I was using on her the facial oil with the sleeping mask from Bodyshop – Oils of life (review coming soon). The fine lines appeared minimal after 2 days, and after 15 days she had a considerable difference on her face.

I was surprised to find such positive results on my mother, who still exhibit characteristics of a tomboy, and consistently forgets to use sunscreen going out, which does the maximum damage on the skin, more so in our part of the world where the sun is always present to welcome you.

Hence, in my experience this particular facial oil, is not suitable for sensitive, very acne-prone type of skin. I don’t know If it works wonders in colder climates for acne/oily skin, but here in Pakistan it is not helpful.

For mature skin it is very good for reducing the fine lines as it claims. I think young people with oily skin can find better alternatives.

After applying the facial oil. The skin is smooth and shiny. Just by using one drop.

On the Budget

The rupee depreciation is making imports extremely expensive.I got the facial oil in January 2018 for around Pkr 6000 from Body shop Pakistan. I presume with dollar on 129/Pkr it would be around 8000-10,000 Pkr which makes it really pricey.

However, on the bright side, if it will suit you then I guess it will go for 5-6 months , even if you use it daily. Hence it  justifies the price of this luxury product.

 Verdict

6.5/10

  • Does produce a healthy glow with regular use
  • Best product for mature skin as it does minimise the fine lines
  • Not good for Acne skin ( specially who live in Hot climates)
  • Can irritate sensitive skin type
  • Pretty expensive
  • I didn’t turn into Cleopatra after using it.
