Wicked Witch of the West Makeup tutorial by Aicha

Hey there, fellow makeup enthusiasts!

Today, I will be showing you a super easy and wickedly fun transformation of one of wickedest character of my all time favourite movie  (since I literally opened my eyes) “The Wizard of Oz”

You have guessed it right – it is no other than – the Wicked Witch of the West!

Her cackling laughter used to scare me as a kid but I got over it when I realised real world has far more evil people than her.

For Halloween, I believe that the wicked witch of the west makeup is a fantastic choice especially if you want to have a little bit of whimsical self-expression doing fantasy makeup. 🙂

Also this iconic  green-skinned, black-clad, and enchantingly evil look doesn’t need any advanced makeup skills or expensive products which is great if you have beginner level makeup skills like me. All you need is  a touch of creativity and a sprinkle of magic.

So, for the wicked witch of the west makeup – grab your broomstick and let’s brew up some spellbinding makeup artistry!

Skin Prep for wicked witch of the west makeup

The fantasy makeup can never start without the skin preparation and our secret elixir is L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Crystal Micro-Essence. It is contains salicylic acid and claims to provide a radiant glow to the skin, much like the gleaming Emerald City.

If you have oily or acne-prone skin, like me, it is advisable to use a water based serum like this, as it has ability to penetrate up to ten layers of your skin, leaving it smooth skin without making it greasy.

Ghostly Canvas for the wicked witch of the west makeup green foundation

To create a flawless canvas for the iconic foundation, it’s essential to use a light foundation, especially if you plan to apply eyeshadow to your face and have brown skin.

As always, I rely on my trusted foundation from Ingrid Cosmetics – the All Mineral Silk & Lift in the shade Porcelain.

I like how full coverage it is and hides the imperfections really well without making skin greasy, while also providing a smooth radiance. I’m truly in love with it.

NYX finishing Powder

Step 3: NYX HD Studio Finishing Loose Powder – Translucent

Then I used the Studio Finishing Loose Powder from NYX to set my makeup. I used a minimal amount of product and applied it with a delicate, feather-light touch all over my face.

You can skip this step, but I believe it helps the green eyeshadow base stick well to the skin, preventing the green color from blending with the foundation and allowing it to appear in its true form.

Wicked Witch the West Makeup – Iconic Green Foundation

Next in line, I reached for the amazing Ingrid Smart Eyes palette Casablanca 108 and picked the greenish blue shade from it. Since I didn’t have any green face paint, this was the closest shade I had available that I could use. You can choose any green shade that complements your natural skin tone.

I placed a small amount of the foundation on a plate, mixed it with water, and applied two to three coats of it on my face.

In the end, I had to use my fingers to evenly distribute it all over my face as it kept drying.

If you intend to keep it looking fresh for a longer duration, consider using a makeup setting spray to prevent it from drying out at this stage.

Dark eyes with Shiseido Kajal Inkartist Shadow

For a sinister, dark look reminiscent of the Wicked Witch of the West, I opted for the Shiseido Kajal Inkartist Shadow in Purple Blossom once again.

This is truly an amazing invention, as it serves as a 4-in-1 liner, kajal, eyeshadow, and brow pencil. I used the Purple Blossom shade with my eyeshadow brush, using a very small amount of product to avoid making it too dark.

You can certainly use any shade of purple or even a purple lipstick. Simply apply it with an eyeshadow brush and create a striking, smudged effect on the outer corners of your eyes, expertly smudging it underneath as well.

Sharp Cheekbones with Loreal Paris Color Riche eye shadow palette – smokey

For contouring, I reached for the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Palette – Smokey and chose the matte black eyeshadow from it to sculpt those chiseled cheekbones, similar to the Wicked Witch of the West. I also applied a bit to the nose and chin to make them look extra sharp.

Deepen the Green with Maybelline Blue Lagoon

As my eyeshadow kept on drying, I accentuated the greenness with the Maybelline Blue Lagoon eyeshadow. This step added a beautiful green sheen to my skin and took it to another level by creating an interesting depth to the Wicked Witch of the West makeup look.

Wet n wild – STOP PLAYING SAFE EYESHADOW PALETTE

To shimmer and shine like the Emerald City, I chose my favorite, Wet n Wild’s COLOR ICON 10 PAN EYESHADOW PALETTE – STOP PLAYING SAFE, and used the green shade from it as a highlighter on the high points of the face – the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, and above the cupid’s bow. This adds dimension to the Wicked Witch of the West makeup.

Wet n Wild never disappoints and always comes up with the innovative makeup tools and products. It is a brand that elders around me used when I was a kid and I was not allowed to go near it. You could even say that my love for makeup began with Wet n Wild due to their amazing products.

Love you WET n Wild. You have certainly made me quite wild!

Dark Lips –  MAC in Antique Velvet

For the lips to be as dark as midnight, I selected the lipstick Antique Velvet from MAC.

To tell you the truth, I was uncertain about whether to go for red or black or to keep it green in the iconic character in the wicked witch of the west makeup.

In the end, I ended up with black lips. On top of the brown, I used the black shadow again from the Loreal Palette Color Riche Smokey. Using eyeshadow on top of the velvety texture of the lipstick will caress your lips, imbuing them with an eerie charm that speaks of magic and mystery.

Sculpt those Brows

To sculpt those brows like you’re creating the perfect broomstick, I used the Billie eyebrow pencil and applied it generously, ensuring they were as dark and sharp as incantations in a grimoire.

Colossal Mascara Maybelline

For the vixen lashes, we employed the Colossal Mascara by Maybelline as my magical tool.

I used it with a steady hand, gently sweep the mascara from the roots to the tips of your lashes to finalise your wicked witch of the west makeup
