Ariana Greenblatt makeup tutorial recently made waves with its unique contoured routine, a look many couldn’t resist trying.
As a beauty blogger with brown skin, I wanted to see if this trendy look worked on deeper tones. Spoiler: it needed a few tweaks, but it was fun to try! Here’s my take on the Ariana Greenblatt Makeup tutorial, why it’s so popular, and whether it’s practical for everyday wear.
Why Ariana Greenblatt Makeup Tutorial Went Viral
Ariana Greenblatt Makeup Tutorial skyrocketed in popularity for Ariana Greenblatt’s Daily Contour Routine and her lipliner-only method.
Ariana’s contouring technique uses minimal product while sculpting her face in a way that accentuates her natural features.
Another game-changing method was her lipliner-only routine. Instead of layering lipsticks or glosses, Ariana used just a lipliner to create a sharp, defined, and matte finish. This technique delivers long-lasting results, perfect for an all-day event or red carpet glam.
Although, her steps were detailed but not necessarily beginner-friendly. The contouring, precise blending, and sharp lines require some skill (or a bit of patience!).
Recreating Ariana Greenblatt Makeup Tutorial with Drugstore Products
Instead of splurging on high-end products, I recreated the look using more affordable, drugstore alternatives. Here are the products I used to dupe Ariana’s high-end lineup.
Maxfactor Miracle Pure Foundation
Ariana used a Charlotte tilbury Hollywood flawless filter, a dewy BB cream like foundation, but I went with Maxfactor’s Miracle Pure Foundation. This drugstore option is incredibly lightweight and gives a natural glow, perfect for creating a flawless base.
Inglot Cosmetics HD Foundation
To add some extra coverage where needed, she used Nars Radiant Creamy concealer but I mixed in Inglot’s HD Foundation which I found worked wonders as a concealer. It blends beautifully with the Maxfactor foundation, creating an even finish. After trying out more expensive brands like Nars and Tarte, I was pleasantly surprised that Inglot HD delivered better coverage and stayed crease-free for hours.
Ariana Greenblatt’s 10-Minute Everyday Contour Routine
Ariana Greenblatt makeup tutorial focused heavily on contouring—she literally used four different contour products. For cheek, she used the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand and Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Bronzer.
For her nose, she used the Contour Stylus from Victoria Beckham and the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Filter. Since I don’t have the patience for that many products, I opted for the Luscious Cosmetics Face Contour Palette for my brown skin. This affordable palette offers shades similar to hers and works well for deeper tones though I had to be careful, as too much contour can be overpowering on deeper skin.
Laura Mercier Setting Powder
One of the few non-drugstore products I used was the Laura Mercier Setting Powder. This cult favorite is simply unmatched when it comes to setting makeup and keeping your skin matte.
Fake Freckles
She went it to create some fake freckles with Freck Beauty but I used some dark brown eyeshade. However, on my dark skin it was a fail. Freckles in not my thing !
The Perfect Peachy Coral Blush
Ariana Greenblatt makeup tutorial featured a radiant glow, with softly blushed cheeks using Westman Atelier Baby Blush Stick in natural. For a budget-friendly version, I used NYX Life’s a Beach Lipstick as a peachy coral blush. Its creamy texture blended easily, giving a natural flush. This hack is perfect for anyone looking to get more use out of their lipstick and create a coordinated lip-and-cheek look on a budget.
Vollare Peach Blush
To replicate Ariana Greenblatt Makeup Tutorial soft, flushed cheeks which she created using NU Lip & Cheek Tint Balm. I used Vollare’s Peach Blush on top of the NYX life’s a beach. It added a healthy glow to my complexion and also because its a powder blush. It is much sense fro acne prone skin than any cream blush.
Maybelline Master Chrome Highlighter
For the Highlighter, I used Maybelline Master Chrome. The intensity of this highlighter is perfect for brown skin, and it gave my complexion that dewy, luminous glow Ariana sported.
Mascara
Her eye look is quite simple. She just used a thick coat of mascara using About Face Mascara but I went ahead with my favourite Maybelline Colossal Mascara.
NYX Urban Cafe Lip Liner + Soft Spoken Lip Liner
Ariana used the Makeup Forever Warm Brick Brown Lipliner and Dose of Colors Nude Rose lip liner. For my drugstore version, to ensure my lips had the same definition as Ariana’s, I used NYX’s Urban Cafe and Soft Spoken lip liners. These shades complimented my deeper skin tone beautifully.
Steps That Are Unique (But Tricky!)
Ariana Greenblatt Makeup Tutorial is unique, especially in how it combines dramatic contouring with no eye makeup. However, it’s not exactly the most practical look for everyday wear, particularly if you’re someone who prefers a quick, natural makeup routine. Here are a few steps that stood out to me:
- Heavy Contouring – This was a major feature in her tutorial. Ariana’s sharp contour gives her face a sculpted, model-like appearance. However, on brown skin, I found that the contour could easily look too harsh if not blended thoroughly. While it’s great for photos or special occasions, it’s not something I would do on a daily basis.
- Keeping it light – Ariana used a light foundation and blush, with minimal powders. While this works for dry skin or cooler climates, it may not suit acne-prone skin or hot weather.
- No Lipstick – I absolutely loved the unique lip style Ariana chose. She use two different sets of lipliners instead of the lipstick and I really liked this hack as it would make it last longer but lipstick might crack if you would eat or drink anything.
Does This Look Work for Brown Skin?
Here’s where things get interesting. While Ariana Greenblatt Makeup Tutorial is fun to recreate, I wouldn’t say it’s the most flattering for brown skin without some serious modifications. The contouring, in particular, felt a bit over-the-top for my everyday makeup style.
That being said, the rest of the look translated well with a few small tweaks. The peachy blush color worked well for brown skin and perfectly into my complexion
Final Thoughts: Worth Trying, but Maybe Not for Everyday
Ariana Greenblatt Makeup Tutorial is definitely worth a try, especially if you’re looking for something unique and glamorous. While the high-end products she used were tempting, I was able to recreate the look with drugstore options that worked just as well.
If you’re into experimenting with different makeup looks. I recommend giving this tutorial a shot. Just remember to blend, blend, blend!
