The Bodyshop CHINESE GINSENG AND RICE MASK Review

Body Shop  has launched the “Super food “ face masks in its skin care range in 2016.  It is in response to the huge trend in multi masking to cater to different areas within the face. The Bodyshop Chinese Ginseng and Rice Mask is a Clarifying Polishing Mask is 100% vegan product and is without Parabens, Silicone, Mineral oils and Paraffin.

I bought the mask for about PKR 5,490 that is around 75 ml or 75 grams. The mask contains the ginseng extract, rice extract and sesame seed oil blended together in the purest form to provide a brighter and supple skin

How to use the body shop Chinese ginseng and rice mask

After removing makeup and cleansing the skin, use the Facial Mask Brush to smooth an even layer of the Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask onto the face avoiding eye and lip area. Apply to neck and décolleté if desired. Leave for 5-10 minutes then rinse off with warm water and a muslin cloth in circular motions to gently exfoliate. Use 2 to 3 times a week. Use various masks in different areas to target specific areas of your face.

Aicha’s Experience of the body shop chinese ginseng and rice mask

I wanted to write a review for the Body Shop facial masks, especially the Chinese Ginseng and  Rice mask that I have been using since a long time.

Rice masks are popular in our part of the world and the hype is not just limited to South East Asia only. I have used and created many DIY’s through it as well (which I will share on the blog)

Store bought facial masks are convenient and hassle free in our busy routine. So, when Bodyshop launched these vegan, super food masks I was more than happy to get a salon treatment at home, which would provide extra purification and make my squeaky clean skin.

Chinese Ginseng has been my first choice as I’m very well aware of the brightening and healing properties of rice  masks on the skin. This mask has a white, grainy, creamy consistency like raw rice has been mashed up with oil and water.  The reason it doesn’t feel dry is due to the presence of Nicaraguan sesame oil in it. And after removing the mask, my skin felt  very soft and supple.

WHAT DOES THE CHINESE GINSENG AND RICE MASK DO

The polishing granules present in the mask act as an exfoliant as it removes the white heads on my problem skin. I’m sure that many of the acne victims are aware that white heads are easily formed on our acne prone skin which most of the times happen to be also oily, at least it is for me, and actually it is one of the causes of acne, if white heads are not taken out in time.  The granules present in the mask are very mild and won’t hurt/scratch the sensitive skin at all which is a plus point.

The application is pretty easy and the mask is easy to remove as well. It doesn’t dry out like the clay mask so that is a problem that for how long to apply it. I applied it for about 20-15 minutes. To get the maximum results.

The Chinese mask has a beautiful mild fragrance and won’t not irritate the sensitive people either because it is hardly noticeable unlike the heavily scented British plum rose mask that is so intoxicating.

I was hoping that Bodyshop’s Chinese Ginseng and Rice mask would lighten my acne marks,  but even though I had been using this mask for so long, I didn’t notice any change in my acne marks just due to it.

As I live in a hot climate, the skin gets damaged highly by the sun and huge amount of pollution. Chinese Ginseng and Rice mask is ineffective in removing any tanning on my skin, which I thought would do since it is a brightening mask.

Overall, Chinese Ginseng and Rice mask is best described as a gentle exfoliator  that cleans the pores, clearing the oily areas, leaving the skin comforted as smooth and silky as a baby.

AICHA’S VERDICT

6/10

Pros:

  • Makes the skin radiant after continuous use
  • Makes the skin soft and smooth instantly
  • Very light product
  • It is suitable for acne prone/sensitive skin ( as it suited me )

Cons:

  • Expensive ( but lasts a long time, worth the investment)
  • Doesn’t eliminate the acne scars
  • Does not remove tanning
