Today’s blog is about the Ombre Lip Tutorial. The ombre lip trend has taken the beauty world by storm, offering a playful and artistic way to enhance your lips.
Derived from the French word “ombre,” meaning shaded or graduated in tone, the ombre lip involves blending two or more colors seamlessly to create a stunning gradient effect.
Whether you’re a makeup enthusiast or a novice looking to experiment, this step-by-step ombre lip tutorial will guide you through the process, helping you achieve that Instagram-worthy pout.
For perfect ombre lips, it’s essential to start with a smooth canvas, especially if you have chapped or dry lips. This helps remove any dead skin and provides beautiful coverage. You can try mixing coffee with sugar granules and gently dabbing it on your lips. This removes all the dead skin and makes the lips soft and supple.
Next, apply a hydrating lip balm to keep them moisturized. Allow the balm to sink in while you move on to the next step.
Step 2: Apply Lip Primer
To ensure your ombre lip lasts throughout the day, apply a thin layer of lip primer. You can try Laniege or use Baby lips .
This step not only helps the lipstick adhere better but also smoothens the texture of your lips, providing an even base for the colors to blend seamlessly.
Step 3: Outline the Darker Lip Color
For the darker shade, I have used the Sweet touch lipstick 908 as i’m aiming for a brown ombre lip look. Carefully outline your lips, emphasizing the cupid’s bow and defining the corners. Focus on the corners and extend the color slightly towards the center, but be cautious not to put any shade in the center
The dark lipstick acts as a guide, preventing the lipstick from feathering and helping to maintain a crisp, clean ombre effect.
Step 4: Apply the Lighter Lip Color
Now for the main part, for the perfect ombre, I have selected the Wonder Shine lipstick from Ingrid Cosmetics. It is a stunning lipstick, but on brown skin tone, you can’t apply it alone as it washes out my skin tone (NC42 Mac).
I love that it has such a beautiful shine and provides a very hydrating touch to the lips. To apply it correctly, I advise using a lip brush for more precision.
Start by applying the lighter lip color to the center of your lips, where they naturally protrude. This is usually the bottom center of your lower lip and the top center of your upper lip. The lighter shade creates the focal point of your ombre lips, so take your time to ensure an even application.
Step 5: Gradually Blend the Colors
Now comes the fun part – blending the colors to create that perfect gradient. I use the same lip brush and gradually blend the lighter color towards the outer edges of the lips, stopping just before the lip liner.
It is important to take your time and build the color, ensuring a seamless transition between the shades so that it seems one shade is flowing into another.
Step 10: Perfecting the Look
If you experience any spills from the lipstick or notice any bleeding, simply take a tissue or cotton swab and gently remove it.
I have opted for a semi-matte lipstick for this ombre lip tutorial, as I prefer its ease of use and removal. However, if you have chosen a matte lipstick, after wiping it off with a wet tissue, apply concealer to the outer corners and dab it with powder.
