How to apply Garnier Skin Active Sheet Mask – Pure Charcoal Black Tea

Resemblance with Tissue Mask with Algae:

It is unclear why Garnier has created a sheet mask that closely resembles their Pure Charcoal Black Tea Tissue Face Mask. This similarity in design may lead to confusion and the possibility of purchasing the wrong product. It is possible that this design choice was made to increase sales, but it is not clear.

This sheet mask is totally black in colour and contains Black Tea, Hyalaraunic Acid and Lipohydroxy Acid in it along with pure charcoal. One of the best things about it is that it is made without parabens, phthalates, silicones and mineral oils.

Charcoal in skin care:

Charcoal is known to purify the skin and absorb excess oil. But, it is not ordinary charcoal that you can can pick for barbecue. Charcoal used in skin care is activated charcoal that is burnt at very high temperature. After that process of activation, the charcoal surface area increases and it becomes activated and very beneficial to absorbs toxins and oil. So, that is why it is used so religiously in products made for oily /acne prone skin as it removes impurities from skin.

LHA in skin care:

LHA stands for Lipo hydroxy acid, and was first developed by the scientists at Loreal’s Laboratories and that’s why you will only see it in Loreal’s skin care products. It is basically a derivative of salicylic acid, the famous ingredient used to combat acne-causing bacteria and to remove dirt and impurities from the skin. However, LHA is much more gentle than salicylic acid and don’t cause irritation in most people, who are using it for the first time. So, in Garnier skin active sheet mask, its addition is really good to treat the skin deep.

My Experience

“I am a huge fan of sheet masks, especially those that promise to provide a salon-like experience at home. Garnier Skin Active Sheet Mask, specifically the Pure Charcoal Black Tea variant, is a great option for those with problematic, acne-prone skin. It contains ingredients like charcoal, black tea, hyaluronic acid, and LHA that work together to cleanse and nourish the skin – basically every ingredient is great for my problematic acne prone skin.. The mask comes pre-soaked and feels very relaxing on the skin.

While the packaging claims that it is oil-absorbing and mattifying, I recommend using it on a clean, exfoliated face to get the best results. The mask leaves the skin feeling soft and hydrated, and I don’t recommend using any other serums or moisturizers after using it. It’s best to use it as the last step in your skincare routine for maximum benefits.

Aicha’s recommendation on how to use it ?

  • Clean your face with facewash and pat dry it.
  • Unfold the product and apply it tightly on the face, make sure to leave no creases.
  • Although packet says to use for 15 minutes, but I would suggest you to use for 20 – 25 minutes.
  • Though, make sure that it doesn’t get dry on your face, otherwise the benefits are not achieved.
  • Don’t wash the face afterwards

Pro tip : Put it in the refrigerator before using it because there is nothing better than a cool sheet mask. Believe me !

Pro :

  • Affordable
  • Makes skin hydrating and soft
  • LHA fights acne causing bacteria
  • Bio degradable sheet used
  • Vegan and paraben free

Cons :

  • Doesn’t take away the oil
  • Makes the skin little bit sticky

My Verdict

7/10
