Russian red mac mini :
To be honest, it doesn’t matter to me whether I get the mini or full size of the Russian Red MAC Lipstick. In fact, I prefer the mini as it allows me to experience the color without spending a lot of money. I have an idea – Mac should create an eyeshadow palette with all of its iconic lipsticks, so people who want to try out all of the shades can have the opportunity to do so. Are you listening MAC?
Is Mac Russian Red blue based :
Russian Red MAC Lipstick is beautiful maroon-red colour with blue undertones that suits every skin tone. Being from the Retro matte collection, it is a long wearing lipstick and gives a lovely matte finish.
Russian Red on Indian Skin:
Russian Red MAC Lipstick looks different on various skin tones. On pale or fair skin, it appears bright and bold, like the color you would envision on someone wearing a woolen cap in a snowy Russian landscape.
On Indian or brown skin tones, it appears as a maroon red or chocolatey red color. In my opinion, it doesn’t appear as bold as Ruby Woo
Texture & Finish :
I find the texture of Russian Red MAC Lipstick to be very creamy and non-drying. After application, it has a satin finish rather than being super dry.
Pigmentation and Longevity of Russian Red MAC Lipstick:
It is an extremely pigmented lipstick, as you would expect, and a single swipe is enough to give full coverage to the lips. Although it claims to be long-lasting, due to the satin finish, it is transferable and fades if you eat or drink anything. However, it leaves behind a red stain, quite like a vampire.
New formula of Russian Red MAC Lipstick:
Many people complained about Retro Matte Lipsticks making their lips too dry, so MAC altered its formulation to make it easier to apply without the need for exfoliating the lips. Recently, the tube I purchased has more creaminess than the previous one.
No doubt, it is easier to apply, but to me, the appeal of the Russian Red MAC Lipstick has dimmed slightly. This is mainly because the intensity of the color is compromised due to the inclusion of the creaminess.
